FESTIVE FUN WITH ALL THE TRIMMINGS
Pantoland has arrived at Theatre Royal Plymouth with SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS, featuring mesmerising sets and costumes and topped with a fantastic cast and lashings of fun and silliness which will keep the whole family entertained.
This panto is camp with a capital C and there's enough sparkle to make an episode of Strictly Come Dancing look bland and boring! Rob Rinder wins the award for the campest stage entrance ever and as the Man in the Mirror he is commanding and cheeky at the same time. He has a great stage presence and was just joyous to watch.
The camp continued with the wonderful Samuel Holmes as Lady Samantha of Swilly! Holmes returns to his hometown of Plymouth for the second year in a row and is a consummate performer. His performance was the perfect balance between the absurd and reality and the way he glanced knowingly at the audience and had banter was pure brilliance. He also has a fantastic singing voice and when he performed a song with Scott Maurice as Prince William of West Hoe, the audience were left in no doubt that we were watching world class performers on the stage.
The titular role of Snow White was played by Briana Craig who is making a triumphant return to Plymouth after starring as Peppy Miller in the world premiere of The Artist at TRP earlier this year. She portrayed her character's innocence beautifully and displayed stunningly pure vocals.
Andy Ford brought bucket loads of energy and sublime stupidity to the role of Muddles, delighting children and adults alike. He really knows how to work an audience and is a true master of his craft, never missing a beat. He was a whirlwind every time he entered the stage and he had boundless charisma.
Lesley Joseph may be small in stature, but she gave a huge performance as the fiendishly villenous Queen Dragonella. Delightfully devilish in the role, there were also comical moments where she would break character and these were done with pinpoint precision - "Don't call me Lesley!" - and of course there were references to her iconic role in Birds of a Feather.
The Magnificent Seven were wonderful as the Seven Dwarfs and the ensemble were exquisite and really rounded off this production wonderfully, adding to the grandeur with their sumptuous delivery of the choreography.
There's nothing not to love about this dazzling pantomime which is sure to get any Scrooge into the Christmas spirit. You can catch SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS at Theatre Royal Plymouth until Saturday 11th January. Click here to check availability and to book tickets, and there's a relaxed performance onThursday 9th January and these tickets can be booked here.

All views are my own and I pride myself on being honest, fair and free from influence. Theatre is subjective and it is important to remember that all views expressed are just those of one person.
My ticket for this performance of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was gifted by the Theatre Royal Plymouth who invited me to watch the show in exchange for my honest review. The fact that my ticket was gifted played no part in the content of my review or the star rating given.
